Introduction

This page provides links to research related journals on the Internet. The list below shows many chemistry, biology, and medical journals currently with a presence on the Internet. The amount of information provided for each journal varies. In most cases, tables of contents for recent issues are provided. Many also provide abstracts. A few provide full text of articles, though a subscription is required for most of these. Some of the journals are available in electronic versions only, in which case the full text is always available online.

The Journal of Biological Chemistry is an outstanding example of a journal with full text available on the Internet. Articles may be printed which look exactly like those in the paper version. The full text of all articles is searchable. Free full text of the JBC is available only for the duration of a pilot test of the Internet site, perhaps through the first quarter of 1996. At its conclusion, a subscription will be required to obtain the full text.

Some journals offering full text online, such as the Journal of Biological Chemistry, require the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print articles. The Acrobat Reader is available for free from this Adobe Acrobat Reader page.

Some of the journals below require that you have a userid to connect to their site. If this is the case, when you click on the link, a dialog box will appear asking for your userid. In most cases, a free userid is available. It may be necessary to view another page than the one provided by the link below in order to get the information needed to log on to the site.

Response for some of these sites may be slow because they are located outside the U.S.
